Hazards
Environmental hazards in Blitz.
Blitz maps feature environmental hazards that affect player movement and health. Each hazard type has a distinct effect. Learning where they are and how they behave gives you an advantage in both avoiding them and using them against opponents.
Acid Lake
Pools of acid that deal continuous damage while you're standing in them. Get out as quickly as possible. The longer you're in, the more health you lose.
- Use the grapple (
E) to cross over acid lakes entirely without taking damage - Enemies in the acid are taking damage. Push while they're in it
Dookie
Piles of dung scattered across the map. Landing on one bounces you into the air.
- Use dookie piles intentionally to reach elevated areas without using the grapple
- Enemies bounced by dookie are briefly airborne and harder to track
Slippery Bar Soaps
Bar soaps on the floor cause uncontrolled sliding on contact, removing directional control until the effect wears off.
- The slide can carry you off ledges. Be aware of what's behind you before crossing soap
- Bait enemies into soap, then engage while they're sliding and unable to maneuver
Rat Traps
Snap traps placed on the floor that deal damage on contact and fling you in the direction they're aimed. The launch can cover significant distance, making them a way to move across the map quickly at the cost of some health.
- Step on a trap intentionally to use it as a launch pad; make sure your health can take the hit
- Check your health before using traps for traversal; a low-health player shouldn't risk it
- In Team Deathmatch, ping (
Z) trap locations for your teammates
